Frequently asked questions
A: Specifically well-suited due to its 7.6kg weight, sub-30-second setup, and 120-200cm client range. The 5-year structural warranty covers daily multi-venue use.
A: Seated treatments targeting neck, shoulders, upper and lower back, arms, and hands. Modalities include remedial massage, trigger point therapy, Swedish relaxation, and shiatsu. Treatments range from 10 to 30 minutes.
A: The aluminium frame and wide base provide sufficient stability for firm pressure on upper back, neck, and shoulders. The 40mm two-layer foam supports client comfort. A rubber mat under the base adds extra grip.
A: A massage chair positions the client seated and leaning forward, giving access to the neck, shoulders, back, and arms. A table has the client lying down for full-body treatments. The Centurion Traveller at 7.6kg is significantly lighter and faster to deploy than any portable table.
A: The Elite 635 package, built around the 12.4kg table. Total carry weight with accessories sits well under 15kg.
A: The heavy-duty transit bag has reinforced stitching and padding with a shoulder strap. Inspect stitching and zippers periodically if using five or more days per week.
A: You will still need linen (fitted sheet, flat sheet, face cradle cover), massage medium, hand sanitiser, and a bolster. Business essentials like insurance sit outside the equipment checklist.
A: Packages are priced below the combined individual cost, and eliminate the risk of purchasing incompatible accessories. For a new mobile practice, a package removes the guesswork.
A: Each package includes the massage table, face cradle, face pad, armrest, face hole plug, and heavy-duty transit bag. The specific table model varies by package (Elite 635, Elite 720, or CXL).
A: Galaxy Plus PU fabric is engineered for oil resistance. It maintains its flexibility and appearance through repeated exposure to oil without cracking or peeling. PU fabrics do, however, age by a process known as hydrolysis even if you do not use the table. This would typically occur in 5 to 7 years.
A: When folded, Centurion portable tables fit comfortably in most standard sedan boots. The Elite 635 at 12.4kg is easy to load single-handed. Hatchbacks and SUVs accommodate all models.
A: The Centurion portable range has a 205kg safe working load (SWL), accounting for both client weight and downward pressure during treatment. A 90kg client leaves substantial capacity for firm deep tissue techniques.
A: Centurion portable tables unfold and lock into position without any assembly or tools. Most therapists complete the setup in under 60 seconds. Legs deploy as you open the table.
A: A properly set-up Centurion portable table on a flat surface feels firm and stable. The aluminium frame uses cable-braced leg systems that lock into position, preventing lateral sway. Uneven flooring is the most common cause of instability.
A: The Pro-Lift's German actuators raise and lower the table at a steady, controlled speed via foot pedal. The movement is deliberately paced to avoid startling clients mid-treatment. Micro-adjustments between techniques are seamless.
A: PVC fabrics are not oil-resistant. To prevent hardening and cracking, ensure that the table is covered during treatments. Wipe the surface after each treatment with a mild cleanser.
A: The Athlegen Pro-Lift range plugs into a standard Australian 240V power point with no special wiring required. The AC actuator system draws modest power, well within the capacity of a normal clinic outlet.
A: Working at the wrong height forces you to compensate with your shoulders, wrists, and lower back, which compounds over a full day. An electric table lets you set the exact height for each technique. Therapists using the Pro-Lift report less end-of-day fatigue because they maintain neutral posture throughout treatments.
A: Electric height adjustment lets you reposition the table between techniques without interrupting the treatment or straining your own body. With the Athlegen Pro-Lift range, a foot pedal controls German-made actuators that raise or lower the table smoothly.
A: When choosing a portable massage table width, you must balance client comfort with your own body mechanics. A table that is too wide can lead to back strain from overreaching, while one that is too narrow may leave clients feeling unstable or cramped.
Key Width Considerations
Therapist Stature: Your own height and arm span are critical. Smaller-statured therapists (under 162cm) often prefer narrower tables (approx. 63cm) to reach the body's centreline without straining. Taller therapists (184 cm+) can typically manage wider tables (70cm+).
Client Comfort: Wider tables (70cm) are generally more comfortable for larger clients. Narrower tables (63cm) are lighter for transport but may sacrifice some client comfort.
Modality Needs:
Sports Massage: Often benefits from a narrower table for better access and leverage.
Relaxation: Wider tables are preferred to provide a sense of luxury and space.
Portability & Weight:
Reducing the width directly reduces the table's weight, making it easier to carry if you use public transport or have a mobile practice.
A: PU (polyurethane) upholstery is softer and more oil-resistant than PVC and can be disinfected with alcohol products. Galaxy Plus PU fabric, used on the Centurion range, is specifically engineered to withstand repeated exposure to massage oils.
A: Massage tables typically use either standard polyurethane foam or premium options like Australian-made Dunlop cushioning, which is denser, retains its shape and lasts longer under repeated use. The Athlegen Pro-Lift range uses Dunlop foam exclusively, with multiple-density configurations. We have developed a range of cushioning options to suit the way professionals work.
Our standard Dunlop® cushioning will provide lasting comfort and support after years of use, and is suitable for a wide variety of treatment styles including massage, examinations and beauty treatments. Consists of a firm base, a medium centre and a soft overwrap layer. Soft to medium finish; overall thickness 55mm.
Enduro® - long life Dunlop Enduro® cushioning is a premium standard of cushioning that provides a superb level of comfort and support, even in the most heavy-use environments, extremely durable with the ability to keep bouncing back - highly recommended for professional massage treatments. Consists of a high-density ultra-firm base and side bolster, a medium centre, and a soft over-wrap layer. Medium finish; overall thickness 70 mm.
A: Electric tables offer controller height adjustment and heavier construction for clinic use, while portable tables fold for transport and weigh between 12.4kg and 16.5kg. The Athlegen Pro-Lift range has a 220kg safe working load with German actuators, whereas Centurion portables support 205kg SWL on lightweight aluminium frames.
A: Start by identifying whether you work from a fixed clinic or travel to clients. Electric tables like the Athlegen Pro-Lift suit permanent clinic setups with motorised height adjustment, while portable tables like the Centurion range (from 12.4kg) are designed for mobile therapists. Consider your typical client size, the types of treatments, and how often you transport the table.
